Health Fairs / Presentations

KFNWO is the area's leading advocacy and support system for individuals living with chronic kidney disease, their families, and physicians. Our goal is to ease the burden both emotionally and financially, for those living with the disease as we as increase prevention through public education.

Through a compassionate and caring team of staff and volunteers, KFNWO works to be the trusted ally in this region's daily fight with Kidney Disease.

The Kidney Foundation of Northwest Ohio (KFNWO) participates in several health fairs throughout Northwest Ohio. We educate awareness, early intervention and prevention of kidney disease.

Where are the health fairs held?

We present at health fairs in our 20-county region. These are held at various locations including churches, large & small companies, schools, colleges & universities, festivals, and local community events.

What materials are presented & what other groups are involved?

The KFNWO provides educational brochures and pamphlets for attendees at each function. These brochures focus on warning signs, organ donation, kidney disease, risk factors, and information regarding the KFNWO programs.

The KFNWO also works with other non-profit agencies to help educate the general public. Some health fairs may include screenings and blood pressure checks in addition to the educational materials provided.

How can I get involved?

We need both health professional and non-health professional volunteers that represent all population groups. Volunteers may pass out brochures and talk to health fair visitors about kidney disease, and the KFNWO. Also, at some of the fairs we perform blood pressure checks using an automatic inflatable cuff and machine that displays blood pressure results. We can provide training at our office on the brochures and how to perform and interpret the blood pressure checks.

If you are interested in being trained as a volunteer for a health fair in your area or if you are interested in having a KFNWO representative speak to your group or exhibit at an upcoming health fair, please email us at administrativeassistant@kfnwo.org.
